The Circle Colours

The Blessed Crimson

The highest members of the Ekklesian order within Iysärav, the Blessed Crimson, or Blessed Elders, are those who are closest to the Queen and are responsible for all that goes on in the city within a city.

  • AdurArshaam - The Keeper of the Sacred Flames and High Elder of the Blessed Circle.  AdurArshaam wields the most power within Iysärav, more so than his fellow seven Elders.  A mysterious and darkly charismastic figure, AdurArshaam commands the most respect within the Ekklesia and none are beyond his reach.
  • Yas - The Listener.  The only female member of the Blessed Crimson.  Yas is considered the second in command due to her close relationship with AdurArshaam.  Her strengths lie in her abilities to enter and hear the thoughts of others.
  • Quortoub - The Dead.  The most silent and shadowy of the Blessed Crimson, Quortoub's duties lie mainly with burial rites and the dead and he is the most watchful of all the Blessed Crimson brothers.
  • Baraiq - The Scribe. Near blind, Baraiq records the breath and life of Iysärav and all who dwell within it.  The most knowledgable as to the state of affairs with stock and Offerings, Baraiq is the keeper of all informtaion within Iysärav and beyond.
  • Rumezaad - The Whisperer.  With an ear and eye ever turned to the borders of Quarai, Rumezaad is intuned to most of the beasts and walking the earth and is ever watchful for Darakos.  It is his duty to locate the foul beasts and direct DarakDazem in their extermination.
  • Haroun - The Silent.  The voice of fact amongst the Blessed Crimson, Haroun the Silent is ever there to point out the waning of belief to be found amongst the people.  His abilities lie in an uncanny ability to snese heretics or unbelievers by scent.
  • Damaad - The Keeper of Secrets.  The largest and possibly most frightening of the Blessed Crimson, Damaad's domain lies within the dungeons and holding cells of Iysärav.  The Sepia Brothers report directly to him and the supervision of prisoners and the damned lies with him.

The Sable Brothers

Responsible for leading devotees in their prayers, the Sable Brothers are well versed in the Holy Words of Light and scriptures.  It is they who attend the services and lead the prayers within the innermost sanctums of Iysärav.

The Pale Brothers

Wearing robes of pale ivory, the Pale Brothers are Keepers of the Histories and sacred tects and lore.  It is they who preach on the Savage Age and the time before Enlightenment.  The main scribes of the histories, the Pale Brothers will sometimes leave Iysärav if new manuscripts have been found beyond Särav.

The Jade Brothers

Accomplished tutors, the Jade Brothers are responsible for teaching those within Iysärav the Enlightened gifts of Math, Science, Philosophy, astonomy, etc.  All the learning that was given to humankind by the yazata falls under the jurisdiction of the Jade Brothers.  Well educated men, the Jade Brothers will often hold classes for the citizens of Särav and thus are the most common Circle member to be seen within the city itself.  Despite being glorified teachers, the Jade Brothers are still fully ordained members of the Ekklesia.

The Azure Sisters

The chief weavers of Durisimi, the Holy Cloth, the Azure Sisters focus their devotion and blessing into the cloth they weave for Nuryana and spend their time in seclusion, meditating within their labour as each day the sacred Durisimi is burned and a new one worn.  The Sisters are also responsible for the clothing of the rest of the Circle and aid in preparation of ceremonies and festivals.

A select few of their number are chosen to perform the Ritual of Waking where they are permitted to wake Nuryana each morning and dress her in the newly woven Durisimi.

The Ashen Brothers

These Brothers include Sisters in fact, and are responsible for the many public ceremonies and minor events where the Circle mingle with the citizens.  Although the Blessed Crimson make regular appearances at festivals and large holy ceremonies, the Ashen Brothers are those who carry out many of the minor events and smaller ceremonies such as birth celebrations or marriages.  Although the Ekklesia has its own various monks living outside of Iysärav, they are often lead in ceremonies by a member of the Ashen Brothers, thus these Circle members spend most of their time outside of Iysärav, gathering back within the holy city for Ekklesial meetings held quarterly.

The Sepia Brothers

The discipliners of Iysärav, it is the job of the Sepia Brothers to punish those who have overstepped themselves or displeased the Circle.  The Sepia Brothers spend their days in fervent prayer, undisturbed until they are needed.  They are the most reclusive and least social of the Circle, appearing only when summoned from their prayer to mete out the judgement of the Circle.  The Sepia Brothers often practice self flagellation and mutilation.
